40 Year Old Nutrition and Dietetics Law Revised

Manila, July 18, 2016 --- The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), represented by its Chairman Teofilo S. Pilando Jr., is proud to announce that the new law on Nutrition – Dietetics profession, Republic Act No. 10862, was approved last May 25, 2016. The law upgraded the standards of regulation in the education, registration and new practice of Nutritionist – Dieticians in the country.

Some of the most significant changes introduced by the new law include:

1. Integration of the Nutrition – Dietetics profession through the creation of a single national organization of Nutritionist – Dieticians in the Philippines

2. Strengthening of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement to promote effectivity and efficiency in the practice;

3. Development of a comprehensive Nutrition and Dietetics Program.

4. Stricter regulation and registration of the foreign Nutritionist – Dieticians by means of Special Temporary Permits (STP) and Reciprocity
