PRC Spearheads ASEAN Engineers Information Exchange Framework Orientation / Workshop
MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Adjunct with the Philippines’ deliverables and commitment to the Technical Working Group on Mobility of ASEAN Engineers (TWG-MAE) under the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers Coordinating Committee (ACPECC), the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC / Commission), together with the Chairpersons and members of the Professional Regulatory Boards (PRBs) under the Engineering cluster, namely: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering (PRB – ECE), Geodetic Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Sanitary Engineering attended the hybrid Orientation/Workshop on the ASEAN Engineers Information Exchange Framework Part 1 last August 09 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PRC-PICC), Pasay City.
The orientation mainly focused on the practice of the profession of professionals in the engineering sector including ASEAN mobility, and cross-border mobility among and across the regions.
Taking the lead on the Development Information Exchange Framework, the TWG-MAE is tasked to look into the local practices, conditions, and information of the Professional Engineers such as 1) Education, 2) Licensure and Regulatory Laws, 3) Codes and Standards Utilization, 4) Local Laws on Permits 5) Nominal Voltages, 6) MRA Compliance, 7) Safety Standards and Practices 8) Environmental Regulations, 9) Technology and Innovation, 10) Professional Networking and Associations, 11) Case Studies and Best Practices, 12) Legal and Ethical Considerations, and 13) Support and Resources. The information Exchange serves as an avenue for fostering collaboration, introducing innovations, and redefining standards in the practice of their profession.
Anticipating and looking forward to the succeeding meetings, PRC Chairperson Charito A. Zamora, also the Chairperson of ASEAN Monitoring Committee on the Engineering Services of the Philippines (AMCESP), highlighted in her Closing Remarks as read by Director IV of International Affairs Office, Atty. Melisa Jane C. Yeachana, the recognition given to PRC and PRBs on the effectiveness and capabilities in regulating the practice of professions. Further recognized was the uniqueness and versatility of each profession’s policies and guidelines and thus, the need to continuously develop and promote the standards and criteria for ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers (ACPEs) among the participating ASEAN Member Countries.
